Marvin grew up fishing freshwater and saltwater in southern New Jersey. He spent his summer vacations chasing largemouth bass, chain pickerel, bluegill, redbreast sunfish, and perch in freshwater, along with bluefish, striped bass, flounder and herring in saltwater. His love and passion for the outdoors continued throughout his adult life in North Carolina, Arizona, and recently, Oregon. In 2014, he purchased his first fishing kayak, a Native Watercraft Slayer 12. He actively pursues multiple freshwater species in his kayaks, traveling all over the Pacific Northwest and the Southwest. Marvin is active in the kayak fishing community in Oregon, California, Arizona and nationwide. He is Co-President of the OKBF Club (a non-competitive fishing club), and he is one the administrators of Arizona Kayak & Motorless Anglers (a Facebook group of over 2,800 members). He has publicly spoken about kayak angling. He is a former board member for the Arizona chapter of Heroes on the Water, giving back to veterans, active military and first responders, and spreading the excitement and relaxation of kayak fishing. He’s participated in over 25 kayak fishing tournaments, placing first, second and third. "Some guys see a fishing kayak as a stepping stone to a bass boat, but not me. I’d rather be in a kayak than a bass boat any day. Close to water, in touch with nature, authentic. That’s why I kayak fish." In September 2017, Marvin moved to Estacada, Oregon. "I'm looking forward to exploring the rivers and lakes of the Northwest. Following is some of the gear I use: Kayak: Native Watercraft Manta Ray Propel Angler 12 (Lizard Lick), Native Watercraft Slayer 12 (Lime); Paddle: Bending Branches Angler Pro Plus (Sea Green); PFD: Astral Designs Ronny Fisher (Green); Accessories: Backwater Paddles Assault Hand Paddle.
