Capt. Butch Rickey

I was born on beautiful Amelia Island in Fernandina, in 1945. We came to southwest Florida when I was just a kid, and I spent my formidable years growing up on Captiva and Sanibel Islands, and Fort Myers. That was before there was even a bridge to the islands. I left the area in June of 1964, just before the opening of the Sanibel Causeway. Over the years have worked for the Air Force, Ampex Corp., Metropolitan Life, GTE, and Rickey and Associates, Inc. I have lived in Auburn and Charlotte but circumstances and my yearning for the waters of southwest Florida brought me home. It was not until I hit my early 40’s that I figured out what I was supposed to be when I grew up: a fishing guide. I’m a water baby, and my first love is fishing. As a professional guide, I’m where I need to be, doing what I love. My passion is guiding people and teaching them the joys, pleasures, and techniques of fishing and kayaking, and I hope to do that until my last breath is drawn.
