2009 Columbian Sportswear Kayak Fishing Classic

Capt. Roger Bump Wins Slam at 2009 Columbia Sportswear Kayak Fishing Classic in Native Watercraft Ultimate Propel

Capt. Roger Bump

Capt. Roger Bump of Jacksonville Florida and his Ultimate 14.5 Propel beat out 430 anglers and won the grand prize in the 2009 Columbia Sportswear Kayak Fishing Classic held May 2nd in Jacksonville Florida.

Capt Roger Bump's record-setting 69.8 slam with a 16.7" flounder, 27" red and 26" trout was set in the Native Watercraft Ultimate 14.5 Propel. Bump claimed the top honor for the second year in a row but this time while using Native Watercraft's Propel drive system. For Bump, who has been using the Ultimate 14.5 Propel for 10 months, the advantages of the Ultimate Propel Multisport are obvious; "More room, more comfort. I can maneuver while standing. And the reverse in the pedal drive". Fishing-specific kayaks and the accessibility of the sport continue to draw beginners and long-time anglers alike.

The sport of kayak fishing continues to be one of the fastest growing segments in the watersports industry as evidenced by the growing participation in this and other tournaments like it. At this event, over 430 kayak anglers and sponsors from major kayak, fishing and outdoor companies raised over $43,000 for Daniel Memorial and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.

The Columbia Kayak Fishing Classic is a catch-photo-release charity event hosted by Columbia Sportswear and JaxKayakFishing.com. The event, which is the world's largest kayak fishing event for the fourth consecutive year, is a benefit for Daniel Memorial and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.
